The contract is with CGC Systems to supply and install two, five-metre S/X-Band antenna systems at the AGN-W site, and follows "an extensive industry wide engagement and formal tender process during the second half of 2018".
Capricorn Space CEO Mark Thompson said the contract award is "in line with our program timeline of offering commercial services by mid-2019".
The antennas that will be installed are the CGC Model T350SX and "provide outstanding performance at a cost effective price point".

Capricorn Space said its implementation planning and execution for the site is "well advanced", and revealed it is close to offering targeted ground segment service plans to satellite operators who are seeking coverage in the southern hemisphere.
There will be four available spots for antenna systems in the initial development of the AGN-W site, and Capricorn Space confirmed it is in talks with "a number of operators" to lease the empty positions.

"The remaining antenna pads are available for third party hosting and we are in discussion with a number of operators to take advantage of the strategic location our site offers. Our ability to resolve the regulatory, power and communications challenges to establish this site has attracted significant interest from the global satellite industry," Thompson said.
"We have the ability to expand further on this site as demand dictates and are now forward planning for our second AGN site in eastern Australia (AGN-E), to follow before end 2019.”
