Expressions of interest are being sought by Renewal SA on behalf of the state government of South Australia for suitable companies or organisations to establish at Lot Fourteen in central Adelaide, alongside the new Australian Space Agency, the SmartSat Cooperative Research Centre and other sector leaders.
Lot Fourteen is being created on the site of the former Royal Adelaide Hospital to drive investment, innovation and jobs in deep technology industries. In addition to space and defence, Lot Fourteen is focused on cyber security, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and creative industries, including VR and AR.
The neighbourhood is the focus of the $551 million Adelaide City Deal, which brings together local, state and federal government investment to establish the neighbourhood as a premier destination for entrepreneurship, innovation, technology development and commercialisation.

South Australian Space Industry Centre chief executive Richard Price said the state government was seeking an international space industry company or organisation that would contribute to the economic growth of SA through direct investment and the creation of new highly skilled jobs.
"Proponents will need to show they will contribute to the space ecosystem, for example, by working with local industry and research organisations to create space-related solutions or services, by establishing a supply chain, or by providing and attracting corporate investment in local businesses that are starting up or scaling up," Price said.
"Lot Fourteen is South Australia’s home-base for a space industry tipped to be worth more than $10 billion within a decade."
The expression of interest seeks a tenant or tenants for valuable space on level two of the four-storey heritage listed McEwin Building, facing North Terrace, which is being fully refurbished for space industry tenants.

A flexible area of 700-1,000 square metres is available for a suitable proponent to lease in whole or in part and will offer a mix of open plan workspaces, breakout areas and meeting rooms, all designed to foster collaboration and spur innovation.
"Space industry businesses are already establishing at Lot Fourteen, these include Internet of Things pioneer Myriota, nanosatellite maker Inovor Technologies and rocket propulsion researcher Neumann Space, along with the Defence and Space Landing Pad, which supports international businesses to enter the South Australian market," Price expanded.
The contemporary refurbishment of the McEwin Building embraces the building’s heritage art-deco features, aligning with Lot Fourteen’s commitment to achieving a 6 Star Green Star rating and supporting the neighbourhood’s WELL Community Standard Pilot certification for well-being.
Businesses in the McEwin Building will be able to access the future Innovation Centre, an environment connecting research with industry to create and commercialise internationally significant technologies of the future scheduled to be open in 2023.
Price added, "Next year, the new Australian Cyber Security Collaboration Centre will join the world-renowned University of Adelaide’s Australian Institute of Machine Learning, with foundation partner Lockheed Martin, at Lot Fourteen."
Lot Fourteen is ideally located in Adelaide’s network of business, cultural and academic destinations and next door to campuses of the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia.
Renewal SA has appointed commercial real estate agents, Colliers International Adelaide to manage the EOI process, which opened on Monday, 30 September 2019 and closes on Friday, 22 November at 2pm.
