This individual award recognises any degree-qualified engineer at any career level and at any age who has demonstrated a commitment to excelling in the space industry and is on a rapid career trajectory.

Your work must have been central to the commercial success, growth or development of your organisation.

All engineers working in the space industry across areas such as agricultural, aerospace, civil, electrical and electronics, mechatronics, launch, mechanical, structural, information and combat systems, and all other sectors are encouraged to participate.

To be eligible for this award, the nominee must own or be employed in an Australian business, organisation or institution (or a division of a global business that is registered to trade in Australia) that has a focus on supporting the Australian space supply chain.

PROMOTED CONTENT

As part of the assessment criteria in your submissions, you will be asked a series of questions, to which you must provide responses of a maximum of 400 words per question.

The submission presents you with an opportunity to detail the outstanding work that demonstrates excellence in your specific area of expertise, and how this has benefited your organisation or institution.

Second, you will be asked to describe the major challenges you encountered in completing your work and how you successfully overcame them. You must also articulate the key benefits or utility of your work.

Following this, outline your contribution to the wider innovation, growth or financial performance of your specific department, program, institution and/or the company as a whole, with reference, where relevant, to specific data.

Finally, explain how you have contributed to the profession more widely or to the space industry outside of the specific work outlined above.

Supporting documents can boost a submission

To provide further evidence of your achievements, you are encouraged to provide a maximum of four supporting documents and refer to any attached supporting material for the judges’ consideration.

This material can include financial or business metrics, images, statistics, transcripts, media coverage, accolades, testimonials or recommendations/references and other relevant information.

If the documents are not directly referenced and relevant to your submission, they will be disregarded.

In addition to the documents, we also encourage entrants to submit an optional short video up to 30 seconds long, answering the question: “What does business success mean to you?”

The assessment period for the award is from 1 January to 31 December 2023.

Finalists will be determined by a well-respected judging panel that includes senior space industry and government leaders, academics, business executives, entrepreneurs and innovators, providing you with peer-reviewed recognition of your capabilities in space and passion for driving the industry forward.
