The former PM, now the Non-Executive Group Chairman at Space Centre Australia (SCA), will be joined by an unparalleled lineup of industry leaders to discuss emerging business opportunities, innovations, and real-world applications shaping the future of the space industry.
While serving as the 30th Prime Minister of Australia from 2018 to 2022, Scott Morrison established himself as a champion of Australia’s space development.
Under his leadership, Australia achieved significant milestones in the space sector, including creating the Australian Space Agency and launching a 10-year Civil Space Strategy.
The country secured involvement in NASA’s “Moon to Mars” program under the Artemis mission and strengthened partnerships with key space agencies such as the European Space Agency (ESA), Japan, and the UK.
Additionally, funding was allocated to expand ground infrastructure for space communication, including establishing a ground station in Western Australia to support NASA’s Deep Space Network.
Today, Morrison serves as Chair and strategic advisor to private sector boards and investors across various fields, such as defence, space, infrastructure, private equity, and funds management.
He is also a member of the strategic advisory boards for the International Democracy Union, the Center for a New American Security, and the Hudson Institute China Center.
While headlining the Australian Space Summit, Morrison will explore his mission to establish Australia as a strategic partner in the global space sector.
He will discuss the importance of harnessing the nation’s strategic alliances, such as AUKUS, to elevate Australia as a leader in space exploration and technological innovation.
“As Principal Partner, Space Centre Australia is proud to support this transformative event and showcase Australia’s rapidly growing space industry,” said Morrison in an SCA press release.
“The summit provides an exceptional platform to discuss the opportunities and innovations that will shape our nation’s future in space,” he concluded.
The Australian Space Summit & Exhibition will be held on 27 and 28 May at the ICC, Sydney.
