Brigadier General Anthony J Mastalir will return to this year’s Australian Space Summit & Exhibition to discuss the landmark security partnership alongside Curtin University director Gary Hale.
He will also make a keynote address and anchor another panel alongside Lieutenant General Susan Coyle, the effective head of Australia’s own Space Command.
This year’s Australian Space Summit features an unrivalled line-up of global industry figures, including NASA’s former chief technologist A.C. Charania, Australia’s most recent astronaut, Eric Philips, and Dr Kelly Fast, who currently oversees NASA’s Planetary Defense department.
Our unique AUKUS session will unpack the security alliance in the context of Australia’s evolving role in space.
Our big-hitting panellists will discuss AUKUS’ effect specifically on Australia’s space capabilities – from situational awareness to communications infrastructure – and address its challenges and opportunities.
It significantly comes months after Australia finished construction of a new AUKUS radar in Western Australia that will track dangerous objects in space, in tandem with similar sites in the UK and the US.
It’s hoped the three together – known as the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) – will provide 24-hour global and all-weather coverage that’s difficult to obtain with existing technology.
To hear from Brigadier General Mastalir in person, come along to the Australian Space Summit & Exhibition.
Other major headliners include Enrico Palermo, head of the Australian Space Agency; James Palmer, the CEO of Space Centre Australia; and Dr Ulpia-Elena Botezatu, one of the most senior figures serving on the UN’s Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space.
