In 2019 the Australian and New Zealand Governments announced significant joint investment for the development and implementation of a joint Space Based Augmentation System (SBAS) – the Southern Positioning Augmentation Network.
The investment by both governments in creating the Network could unlock more than $7.6 billion in economic benefit over 30 years according to a 2019 report by EY and FrontierSI.
